Jazz Combo & Wamidan Perform Fall Concert

WamidanThe Wabash College Wamidan and Jazz Combo will present its Fall Concert on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 7:30 p.m., in Salter Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center.

Wamidan, the World Music performance ensemble, will present and allow the audience to visually and audibly sample a variety of folk music instruments from different music systems and cultures. Featured music systems include those from the Caribbean region, and countries of Kenya, Mexico, and Uganda. The pieces and songs presented highlight a wide range of musical instruments, including steel drums, log xylophones, bow harps, thumb pianos, cone- and goblet-shaped drums as well as guitars.

The Jazz Combo format allows the listener a more focused listening experience and shines a light on the true star of any song, the melody. The concert will present a mix of blues, Latin, and funky numbers.

Scott Pazera led the Jazz Band at Wabash since 2012, while James Makubuya has been the Wamidan director at Wabash since 2000.

Both musical concerts have something for everyone to listen to and enjoy. The concert is free and open to the public, family friendly, and wheelchair accessible.
