Forty-Nine Wabash Student-Athletes Named To NCAC Academic Honor Roll

Wabash College placed 49 students competing in varsity athletics for the Little Giants on the 2017-2018 North Coast Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll.

To be honored by the NCAC, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore on an active roster in a sport sponsored by the conference and hold a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher. A total of 743 student-athletes were named to the 2017-18 Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all 10 full-time NCAC institutions and one affiliate member. Each full-time institution had at least 25 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll for an average of 74 student-athletes per school. A total of 354 male student-athletes were honored.

The 49 Wabash honorees were the second-highest total of male student-athletes recognized from any member institution in the conference, trailing only Kenyon with 52. Members of the Little Giant baseball, football, and men's golf teams placed the most members on the Academic Honor Roll in their specific sports. Eight Wabash baseball players, 14 football players, and four golfers were recognized for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.

While wrestling is not a sport sponsored by the North Coast Athletic Conference, two Wabash wrestlers --- juniors Will Amberger and Chris Wilson --- met the criteria of a 3.50 cumulative GPA and at least a sophomore on the active roster. Wabash was the only school with a varsity wrestling program in the 2017-18 season. Ohio Wesleyan will add varsity wrestling in 2018-19.
