Wabash College’s 49th Annual Christmas Festival of Music and Readings will be presented at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7 in the Wabash College Pioneer Chapel. Seasonal music will commence at 7:30 p.m.
The Christmas Festival, which was inaugurated at Wabash in 1968, alternates music performances, congregational hymns, and Bible readings. It is modeled on the King’s College Festival of Lessons and Carols at Cambridge University, England.
The Christmas Festival features songs of the Christmas season, including selections by the Brass Ensemble; by Wamidan, the College’s world music ensemble; and by the Glee Club. The audience will also have the opportunity to join together in singing several Christmas carols during the program.
Additional numbers will be presented by a harpsichord and recorder duet; a trumpet and organ duet; a vocal solo; and organ selections by Cheryl Everett.
Readers for the evening include Wabash students, faculty, staff, as well as members of the Crawfordsville community.
The traditional Christmas Festival is co-sponsored by the music and religion departments and is free and open to the public. There will be a reception following the Festival in the Sparks Center.
