Wabash College seeks a Director of the Wabash Center to succeed Dr. Nadine Pence upon her retirement in late 2019. The Center provides workshops and consultations on teaching, offers grants to support institutional initiatives, produces an international journal, Wabash Center Journal on Teaching, and in a variety of other ways seeks to strengthen teaching and learning in theology and religion. The ideal candidate for the position of Director will have experience in teaching and administration, a commitment to excellence in teaching, a Ph.D. in theology or religious studies, broad interest in the teaching of religion and theology in theological schools and departments of religion, commitments consistent with leadership in a program of theological teaching, and the vision and energy to sustain the Center’s national impact. The director will be expected to work closely with Wabash College to design, implement, and assess programs that further the aims of the Wabash Center, and will work collaboratively with Lilly Endowment to further its distinctive mission.
The Center currently has a staff of 8 and an annual budget of $2.7M. Programs of the Center are funded by grants to Wabash College from Lilly Endowment Inc.
