    Amar Patel: Fights Worth Fighting

Today we will hear from Amar Patel, the Executive Director of Teach For America Indianapolis.

A native Hoosier, Amar started his career in education as a Teach For America corps member in 2007. He taught high school chemistry, biology, and coached baseball at Wells Academy High School in Chicago. After seven years working on staff for TFA in Chicago, he and his family moved to Indianapolis in 2016, where he now leads a staff of 20 and supports over 700 TFA corps members and alumni in Central Indiana.

Amar is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in biomedical engineering. Raised in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Indian immigrants and first-generation American K-12 public schools graduate, he recognizes the transformative and multi-generational impact education can offer. Amar has a deep passion for seeing to it that every child, regardless of background, has access to an excellent education.
