Come out to learn about the opportunities that are available through the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship Foundation! The Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship, the signature initiative of the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, has four goals: • to attract outstanding candidates to teaching • to improve teacher preparation • to prepare teachers for positions in high-need schools • to reduce teacher attrition Research has shown that attracting the best and brightest teachers to high-need classrooms is the single most powerful way to close the achievement gap and ensure success for all students. By offering the equivalent of a Rhodes Scholarship for teachers, the highly selective Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship seeks to recruit high-achieving candidates who show promise as teachers—including graduating college seniors, recent graduates, and midcareer or second-career professionals—to careers in teaching. LaFollette Lecture: Fine Arts Center Salter Hall, 4:15PM - 6:00PM
This year's LaFollette Lecture will be delivered by Dr. Todd McDorman of the Department of Rhetoric. Dr. McDorman's lecture title is "One for the Books: Rhetoric, Community, and Memory." A lead-off event for the Inauguration Weekend of President Hess, the lecture will take place on Thursday, October 10th, 4:15 in Salter Hall. A reception will follow.
