Each and every student has the opportunity to create his ideal college experience, and for some that means taking a class that includes some pretty hefty field work. Our innovative Immersion Learning courses take students and their teachers around the globe to the sources of their studies. Recent classes have included a Roman art and archeology class that spent 10 days in Rome studying ruins, an ecology class that spent a month in Ecuador, including a week studying evolution in the Galapagos Islands, and a class studying infectious diseases in rural villages in Peru.
Immersion Learning is a critical aspect of the Wabash experience for well over 100 students each year. Wabash men and their professors immerse themselves in the ideas, cultures, and traditions while in class, then spend spring break or fall break traveling the globe to make important connections and complete research projects. And unlike so many colleges, Immersion Learning courses come at no additional cost to students.
Additionally, about one in five Wabash juniors complete traditional semester or yearlong off-campus study in such places as New York, England, France, Australia, and Greece.
