Armory

West of the mall between Goodrich Hall and the Allen Athletics center stands the Armory. Originally built to house marching exercises and other physical activity, the Armory and an adjoining Gymnasium stand on the site of the 19th century Polytechnical Gymnasium. The current Armory was dedicated at commencement in 1918. It has housed a basketball court encircled by a dirt running track, commencement exercises, the college chapel, barracks and mess hall for the S.A.T.C. (Student Army Training Corps, WWI), and the infirmary.

The Armory now houses our Academic Support Center, our Center for Academic Enrichment, a computer lab, and our new Student Lounge on the 2nd floor. The gymnasium, formerly part of the McCanliss Athletic Facilities, is now part of the Allen Athletics Center.
