Besides giving students a chance to use their mind outside the classroom, getting involved in campus organizations at Wabash helps build leadership skills, expand talents, and connect with students who have a common interest. The advantage to an environment like Wabash, where self-governance is a way of life, is that students have an opportunity to quickly become a leader in any organization they choose.

There are over 60 on-campus organizations, including national service organizations, foreign language clubs, musical and singing groups, organizations dedicated to the understanding of diverse cultures and lifestyles, religious organizations, sports clubs, pre-professional societies, political and debate clubs, and a variety of campus publications. Most of the clubs/organizations are listed here.

Student Government

A strong student government is also needed on a campus where only one rule, The Gentleman's Rule, governs student behavior.

• The Senior Council is responsible for promoting a strong
  program of student life on campus by emphasizing community and cooperation
  among student leaders. It represents the student body to the faculty and
  administration and helps regulate tradition.
• The Student Senate allocates money to campus organizations, supports campus activities, and selects representatives to serve on various faculty committees.
• The Senior Council Activities Committee (SCAC) serves as a campus-wide social committee planning parties and entertainment by nationally known musical acts.
• Fraternities also govern themselves, setting budgets, planning a social schedule, maintaining the living unit, and setting academic standards.

The Bachelor, "the voice of Wabash since 1908," is the award-winning student newspaper of Wabash College. The paper consists of students with various academic backgrounds who collaborate to create a weekly (published every Thursday) documentation of Wabash life. Though Wabash offers no journalism professors or classes, The Bachelor staff has garnered over 20 awards for journalistic excellence since 2001, including two consecutive best newspaper awards in its division.

A national organization designed to recruit, register, and train college students in Republican politics. Through participation in a campus chapter, students encounter networking situations, learn grassroots politics that involve them in the issues of the day, and most importantly, discover how to be an effective political activist. The College Republicans truly give individuals the opportunity to gain valuable leadership experience. Wabash's own chapter believes in this noble effort. As a member of the William H. Hays College Republicans, students play an active role in Republican campaigns at the local, state, and national level. Through organized fund-raisers, absentee ballot initiatives, and many other projects, students are introduced firsthand to the exciting world of politics.

The cricket club is one of the new additions to the list of campus organizations. Founded in the spring of 1998, the club aims to introduce and popularize this game, which is already played by over a billion people all around the world. The club considers the game an exciting prospect especially because of the numerous similarities it has with an American favorite, baseball.

Eta Sigma Phi
With a twofold aim, members of Eta Sigma Phi aspire to encourage a broader interest in Classics on the Wabash campus and to deepen the members' understanding and appreciation of the same. Although not limited to Classics majors, even though this major along with the history major does comprise most of the members, membership is based upon exemplary performance in Greek or Latin courses.

Film Club
Founded in the fall of 1999, the Film Club was organized in an effort to provide at least one movie per week, which would appeal to Wabash men. Movies are shown from several different genres in an effort to appeal to the widest possible audience while still screening films of some cinematic virtue. All screenings are open to the entire Wabash community.

German Club
German Club consists of students and faculty who are interested in exposure to the German language or culture. Their backgrounds vary ranging from first semester students to doctors in the German language, and to some people who have no background whatsoever in German, but simply want to participate in some of our discussions and a visit a German restaurant.

Glee Club
Founded in 1859, the Wabash College Glee Club is a choral group for men whose love for singing transcends time. Its mission is excellence in the art of singing. The establishment of close relationships with one another and members of the Wabash community enhance this excellence. The club carries out its mission by accepting into its membership men of courage and character who take personal responsibility for their actions. These men infuse the spirit into the life of the club and in return, the club brings joy and pleasure to the lives of its members and the Wabash community by "spreading the fame of her honored name."

The IMA is a student-run organization dedicated to preserving and representing the independent students of Wabash College. The goal is to foster a positive atmosphere for all students and to enable a common link between independent students if they so choose. The IMA represents the interests of the independent students. It is funded by the Student Senate and actively participates in campus events such as Homecoming activities and community service. It is a thriving organization with a great deal of support from students, faculty, and staff.

Inter-fraternity Council (IFC)
The IFC is the governing organization for the Wabash fraternities and deals with issues such as rush, philanthropy, and judiciary matters. IFC consists of the ten house representatives, the ten house presidents, and four officers. The IFC meets weekly in the Student Senate Room.

International Students Association
The international students' role at Wabash College is definitely not just an academic one. They play a big role in the student life at Wabash, in dorms and fraternities, and in religious and science organizations on campus. In addition, each interested international student is matched with a host family from Crawfordsville community to share and learn more about their respective cultures. The great academic achievements of our club members are a source of great pride in our small international community.

Wabash Lacrosse was founded in the fall of 1998 by Jeremy Bird ’00 and Matt Dickerson ‘00. This student-founded organization has received great support from the Student Senate as well as the College. The team size and ability has grown by leaps and bounds. Both the team and the College hope to make the program a varsity sport within a few years.

Malcolm X Institute
An academically based support group provides cultural, educational, and social programs designed to help its members develop leadership skills. It also educates the entire Wabash and Crawfordsville communities about the African-American experience. Our programs are open to and serve the entire college community. The Institute maintains an African-American studies library and contains classroom, study, and recreational areas. Institute programs include musical, artistic and literary presentations, speakers, films, forums, and community service projects. Although the MXI's membership and leadership have traditionally consisted of concerned African-American students, the Institute is open to all Wabash students.

The Model United Nations seeks to give its members an understanding of various cultures, political systems, and world issues. By means of the conference attendance across the United States, these goals are accomplished through debate and discussion with other students from around the world.

Muslim Students Association
The Muslim Students Association aims to raise awareness of Islam on campus and to dispel commonly held misconceptions of this great world religion. This is accomplished through lectures, videos, readings, and other types of formal and informal presentations. In addition, a weekly prayer service is held every Friday at 12:45 p.m. in which all students are welcome to attend. The mosque is currently located in the basement of Martindale Hall, along with a small library of Islamic books that is growing every year. All with an open mind and a willingness to learn about Islam are welcome to join and help inform others of the true Islam.

The Wabash College Pre-Law Society offers students the opportunity to explore the legal profession in many unique ways. Each year, for example, the Pre-Law Society plans a trip to the Chicago Law School Forum. At the forum, students have the chance to meet over 100 different law school representatives from all over the country. They are given application materials and get to talk to other interested law students. The PLS also helps plan and organize the annual Moot Court competition - the only undergraduate Moot Court program in the nation. Students test their abilities by arguing both sides - affirmative and negative - of a real case in front of legal professionals, professors, and judges. The PLS also publishes LEGALIS, "Wabash College's journal of legal history, news, and opinion." We also assist students in LSAT preparation, as well as providing contacts at events like the David W. Peck Awards Banquet. The Pre-Law Society is a strong and well-respected student organization with a tradition of excellence and determination. The PLS realizes that approximately 12% of Wabash graduates are associated with the legal profession, which is why we encourage active participation. The opportunities are vast and the experience is rewarding.

'shOUT (formerly Wabash Out) is the official organization for gay, bi-sexual, questioning and supportive students that is dedicated to campus awareness of the issue. 'shOUT is open to all students, regardless of sexual orientation. Founded on the principle of activism and awareness,'shOUT strives to attain a positive atmosphere for gay, bisexual, questioning and supporting students. Spanish Club
Spanish Club is an informal group of students, faculty and staff, which meets weekly/bi-weekly for a variety of activities in the Spanish language. The primary focus is on improving conversational skills and developing a wider understanding of cultural and political issues in the Spanish-speaking world. Past activities have included dinners at Little Mexico restaurant, a lecture trip to Chicago, movie showings, and presentations on Latin America and Spain by study abroad participants, poetry readings and games. Participation is encouraged regardless of the level of one's linguistic ability.

Sphinx Club
The Sphinx Club of Wabash College is dedicated to promoting campus unity, spirit, and  togetherness among all students of Wabash through traditional and philanthropic events. The Sphinx Club sponsors Chapel every Thursday, and TGIF every Friday, where students and professors from all over campus can get together and celebrate the beginning of a new weekend. The Sphinx Club holds weekly cookouts at all home football games, and most home soccer and baseball games, before taking the track or sidelines as the college's head cheering section. The Sphinx Club, Wabash's spirit and leadership organization, is made up of juniors and seniors and has members from almost every living unit, many of whom occupy the highest leadership roles on campus.

Wabash College's yearbook offers an excellent opportunity for interested students to gain knowledge and lifelong skills in Desktop Publishing, the importance of being organized, being creative with communication, making scrapbooks, photography, publishing a superior final product through a process of trial and error and having fun in an ensemble project. Each year many positions are available including: Editor-in-Chief, Sports Editor, Student Life Editor, Portraits Editor, Copy Editor, Theme/Opening/Closing Editor, Faculty Editor (etc.); and photographers are always needed. No prior experience is necessary.

The purpose of Unidos Por Sangre is to bring awareness to the Wabash College community of the history, heritage, and culture of its growing number of Hispanic students, and to bring unity not only to these Hispanic students but to the entire Wabash College community.

Volleyball Club
Since its founding in 2000, the Wabash Volleyball Club has developed into one of the most competitive club sports on campus. Beginning in the fall, players practice regularly in order to prepare for large MIVA league tournaments in the winter and spring months. Practice is usually two or three times a week where basic skills, game-play, and team development are the main areas of focus. More seasoned players facilitate practices by helping less experienced players learn footwork, ball placement, and timing. Accordingly, all levels of ability are welcome to participate on this casually competitive and committed team.

Wabash Christian Men
A Christian organization with the sole purpose of bringing the Gospel of Christ to the Wabash Campus.  We are a student led and student run organization that is excited about what Christ wants to do on the Wabash Campus.  We consist of freshmen through seniors, Fraternity and Independent alike.  We are a Bible believing orgaization that seeks to see God glorified on this campus through our obedience to his calling.

WNDY, The Giant
A student-run radio station that airs programming from 5 pm to 12 am, seven days a week. Students, usually in pairs or threes are assigned timeslots and go on the air for an hour or two hours. The Giant is the largest student-run organization on campus. There are nearly 90 students in the organization.
WNDY also has a complete sports team. We broadcast every football and basketball game in each respective season.
