Logansport High School catcher Grant McCloskey was named the Loganland Player of the Year by the area baseball coaches. McCloskey plans to play baseball at Wabash College next season.

Little Giants’ Baseball Team Takes Big Steps
Four Indiana high school seniors will play in the annual North-South Baseball All-Star Game July 12 game at Notre Dame’s Frank Eck Stadium. Next season the quartet will all be wearing a Wabash College baseball uniform.

Olympians Bring Championship Lessons to Wrestling Camp
Continuing the tradition of having Olympians come to his camp, Wabash head wrestling coach Brian Anderson had two former Olympians — Rulon Gardner and Brandon Slay — help his annual camp Thursday. Gardner and Slay worked with 170 young wrestlers from the Midwest as part of the week-long training and competition sessions.

Wabash Wrestling Camp One of a Kind
Most college wrestling camps are instructed by former or current college coaches. Brian Anderson has no problem with that idea, but wanted to do something different than other colleges when he started Wabash’s team camp two years ago. Instead of bringing in college coaches, Anderson thought it would be better if he brought in high-profile wrestlers.

Gardner Still a Kid at Heart
Olympic wrestler Rulon Gardner intimidated opponents with his size and physicality, outmaneuvered them with his skills and outperformed them on the mat. Now, instead of dropping opponents to the ground, he's teaching the next wave of future wrestlers - like he did Thursday at Wabash College's Little Giant Team Wrestling Camp.

Slay Focused on Fundamentals
Brandon Slay believes in teaching wrestling's fundamentals. They're what helped him go from a little-known high school wrestler in Texas to a top-10 U.S. National place-winner all the way to a 2000 Sydney (Australia) Olympics Freestyle gold-medalist. Slay is one of four Olympic Team medalists or members who are teaching at the camp this week. He, along with 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist Rulon Gardner, 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist Kendall Cross and 2004 Olympic Team member Eric Guerrero are teaching 170 wrestlers from ages 8-and-up in the five day camp.

Incoming Freshman Helps Rescue Lafayette Woman
Brandan Alford, a member of the Wabash Class of 2012, joined his Lafayette American Legion baseball teammates in rescuing a women trapped under a minivan Saturday afternoon. Alford, Emilio Domondon, Andrew West, and Kory Banes lifted the vehicle off 72-year-old Helen Williams, who was trapped under a tire.

Youth Gain Exposure to Soccer at Camp
The Wabash Little Giant and Little Little Giant soccer camp concluded Thursday when 25 4- through 10-year-olds showed their parents what they had learned during the four-day camp. This was the third year Wabash coach Roberto Giannini put on the camp.
