Wabash was the lone Division III school competing at Saturday's Sam Bell Invitational at Indiana University. The Little Giants held their own against the scholarship programs, finishing fourth out of five teams with two top-15 finishes.

Sophomore Kevin McCarthy and junior Seth Einterz proved for the second consecutive week they can compete with best in the state. McCarthy took 11th place in the 53-man field, crossing the finish line in 26:12. Einterz was 13th overall with a time of 26:18.

The host Hoosiers swept the top-five scoring spots to post a perfect 15-point score. Purdue had two runners cross the finish line before McCarthy broke up its pack. Einterz finished one second behind Purdue's number three runner, Charles White (26:17).

Brian David added a 29th-place finish with a time of 27:33. Justin Allen took 32nd place (27:50), while Kenny Farris was 37th (28:15).

Purdue was second to Indiana in the team scoring with 55 points. The University of Houston took third place (85), while Wabash was fourth with 99 points. IUPU-Fort Wayne finished in fifth place (135).

The Little Giants return to action October 31 at the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championship race at Ohio Wesleyan University. Wabash was picked to finish second at the conference championship event by the NCAC coaches after posting a third-place finish in 2008.
