Little Giant Grapplers Go 1-1 at Purdue Duals

A major decision by senior Drew McCoy (Greenfield, IN/New Palestine) (left) helped Wabash to a 28-24 victory over the University of Indianapolis Sunday morning a the Purdue Duals. The Little Giants lost 45-6 to the host Boilermakers.

Wabash owned an 18-9 lead against the Greyhounds after the first round of the two-mat competition. A pin by Wabash's Chris Healy (SR/Jasper, IN/Jasper), now ranked third in the nation at 174 pounds, helped the Little Giants to the early lead. They would need ever point, giving away 12 points to Indianapolis at 125 and 133 pounds.

But McCoy rallied for a 9-1 win, combined with a forfiet victory by Adam Miller (SR/Pendleton, IN/Pendleton Heights) at 157 pounds, to give the Little Giants the four-point decision.

Healy took a 7-3 win against junior Barry Jackson in the dual matches against Purdue to remain undefeated for the season at 18-0. Will Clarke (SO/Indianapolis, IN/North Central) (right) battled to a 7-0 decision against the Boilermakers' Manvel Biggs at 184 pounds for the only other points.

Results: Purdue Duals -- Wabash 28, Univ. of Indianapolis 24 || Purdue 45, Wabash 6
