Aouad's Hard Work Leads to Spot at Nationals

Junior Emmanuel Aouad finished fifth in the third heat of the 110-meter hurdles Friday afternoon at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He crossed the finish line in 15.16, but was not fast enough to earn one of the eight spots in Saturday's finals.

The final qualifying time for the finals was 14.76 posted by Wartburg's Russell Harris. Trinity's Todd Wildman, the top-seeded runner entering the day, won the third heat with a time of 14.50. It was the second-fastest time of the prelims, bested only by a 14.39 by Edgar Townsend of Greenville College. Two other runners in Aouad's heat qualified for Saturday's finals.
