Wabash avenged an earlier season loss to Wittenberg with a 5-2 victory over the Tigers in the consolation round of the 2009 North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament Saturday at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. The win gave the Little Giants a third-place finish in the tourney, the highest ever for a Wabash team since joining the league.

Seniors Jay Horrey and Sean Clerget won their collegiate doubles match with an 8-5 victory over Wittenberg's Bobby Fisher and Andy Lamb. Freshmen Evan Bayless and Zach Lowry scored an 8-5 win in the third doubles flight to put Wabash up 2-1 in the team totals.

Horrey added his final singles victory with a straight sets 6-2, 7-5 win in the first flight. Lowry was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at number three singles. Clerget locked up the team victory by winning at number six singles 6-3, 7-5.

Horrey ends his career as the winningest tennis player in Wabash history. He recorded a school-record 73 singles and 67 doubles victories. His .664 winning percentage in singles play is sixth-best in school history.
