Tennis Shuts Out Grace in Home Season Finale

Wabash scored a perfect 9-0 victory over Grace College Saturday morning in the last home match of the 2009 tennis season.

Seniors Jay Horrey and Sean Clerget combined for an 8-3 victory in their final number one doubles match on the Collett Tennis Center courts. Ricky Ritter and Peter Gunderman combined for an 8-2 victory at number two doubles. Senior Ian Sequeira and freshman Evan Bayless were 8-3 winners at number three doubles.

Horrey took all twelve games in his straight sets 6-0, 6-0 win at number one singles. Ritter was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at number two singles. Zach Lowry kept the straight sets winning streak going with a 6-0, 6-1 win at number three singles.

Gunderman added a 6-1, 6-2 win at number four singles, while Sequeira scored a perfect 6-0, 6-0 score in his final career home match. Clerget complete the shut out with a 6-2, 6-2 win number six singles.

Wabash (9-14) will play at Denison University Thursday afternoon before playing in the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament Friday and Saturday, April 24-25, at Kenyon College
