Wabash senior outfielder Jake Thomas has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Baseball Team.

Thomas, an English major with a 3.68 cumulative grade point average, played in all 42 games for the Little Giants in 2009. He led the team with 63 hits, breaking his own single-season record of 59 set in 2007. Thomas also became the all-time leader in hits at Wabash with 193. He set the career record for batting average, hitting .386 over four seasons in a Wabash uniform.

Thomas tied the school record for doubles in a season with a team-high 14 this year. He also led the Little Giants this year with a .404 batting average, RBI (34) and in runs scored (35). His 88 total bases also led the Wabash team and tied his own mark for second in Little Giant history.

Wabash finished with a record of 23-19, the third-best number of wins in school history. The Little Giants were 11-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference Western Division, tying for first place with Ohio Wesleyan while earning a berth in the conference tournament for the first time since joining the league for the 1999-2000 season.

The ESPN The Magazine All-District Team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District V members from Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin in addition to the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba cast votes to select the All-District team. First team selections will advance to the national ballot used to select the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Baseball Team.
