Raised in nearby New Ross, Indiana, Hanover College President Rusty Nichols ’61 came home after 20 years leading that southern Indiana liberal arts institution to receive an honorary degree from his alma mater.

A professor emeritus of religion and dean emeritus of Wabash College whose teaching and scholarship have earned numerous awards, Raymond Williams H’68 called this Wabash honorary degree "an honor beyond all deserving, but one I shall cherish more than any other I’ve ever received.”

Williams was particularly pleased that Professor Emeritus Hall Peebles attended: "When I first came to be interviewed for a job at Wabash and met people like Hall, Paul Mielke, and Vic Powell, and I was so impressed by that group of faculty that if I’d had any money I would have paid to become a member of this faculty.”
