Sophomore Jake Waterman goes through his race strategy before the start of the men's 800-meter run at the 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

At the break line, Waterman dove in behind Whitworth's Emmanuel Bofa. Bofa set a new fieldhouse record in Friday's prelims with the quickest qualifying time.

A lean by Sheetz at the line gave the junior the 2011 800-meter title. Waterman earned All-America honors for the second consecutive year, becoming the first two-time indoor All-American in Wabash track and field history.
As soon as he crossed the line, Waterman knows he was an inch away from the title.
