 Once the molds come out of the kiln, they are kept warm by surrounding them with packed dirt and sand.  Here Evan Bayless and Callum Davies work in more sand and dirt.

 2 by 4s and old-fashioned foot power keep the sand/dirt mixture tight against the molds.

 With the molten brass at 2000 degrees, the students were all safely clothed.

 As the team cleans out the last of the brass, you can see the hot brass beginning to set up in the molds.

 After the molds have cooled, the students pull them from the pit.

 Will Skertic knocks away the remaining pieces of the mold from one of his creations.

 The "extra" parts will be ground away once the entire piece is cooled and cleaned.
