Tennis Drops Tight Match to Augustana

Wabash suffered a one-point loss in Saturday's tennis match against Augustana. The 5-4 defeat against the Vikings puts the Little Giants even at 1-1 on the season.

The Little Giants opened with two victories in doubles' action. Wade Miller and Daniel Delgado scored an 8-6 (10-8) win at number one doubles, while Evan Bayless and Ian Leonard were 8-5 winners in the third flight of doubles play.

Miller added a straight sets 6-1, 6-4 win at number four singles. Senior Ricky Ritter added a 6-3, 6-1 win at number five singles. Peter Gunderman and Leonard (right) each forced their matches at number one and six singles, respectively to three sets but were unable to score the decisive team point for the victory.

The victory moves Augustana to 3-1 for the season.

Wabash was scheduled to compete against Hanover College in the afternoon session, but bad weather forced a postponement of the match. The Little Giants return to action on Saturday, February 12 at Ohio Wesleyan. Wabash will play the Battling Bishops and the Capital University tennis teams.
