St. Louis Alums Work at Nature Reserve

The St. Louis group had a great day on Saturday to gather prairie plant seeds at the Shaw Nature Reserve in support of Shaw's Prairie Restoration Project.  We gathered enough Little Blue Stem seeds in the morning to fill a large yard waste bag, and even more Prairie Blazing Star seeds in the afternoon.  (To be fair, the Prairie Blazing Star seeds are larger than the Little Blue Stem seeds, so the afternoon yield did not represent greater effort than in the morning.)  This was the second year in which we have gathered seeds at the Shaw Nature Reserve, and I am happy to report that we had significantly increased participation this year over last year.

The following is a listing of our participants: Dick Brickson '70 and his wife Marilyn, Mike Kelley '70, Charlie Raiser '69, Gary Zack '76, Jim Thomas '73 and my wife Lynn, and our daughter and son-in-law Ern and Charlie Schulz (both TCU alumni) who were visiting from Fort Worth.
