Twin Cities Men Clean the Kitchen

The Wabash Alumni from the Twin Cities provided volunteer support to People Serving People, Inc. in downtown Minneapolis on October 29.

Alumni arrived at PSP in advance of the morning meal and spent the first portion of their day providing meal services to the children and their families at the shelter. Following the meal service, alumni helped make the cafeteria sparkle, providing a much more thorough cleaning than is generally possible between meals, including scrubbing pillars, walls, tables and other areas.

Once that project was completed, alumni helped with food prep work, including the joyful task of pealing cases of onions.  A crying good time was had by all.

After the food prep tasks were completed, alumni shared "shelter soup" and were provided a tour of the PSP facility. Alumni expressed their enjoyment of the activity and talked about 'doing it again next year.'

Shelter staff were greatly appreciative of the time and energy provided by the Wabash Alumni.  In quoting, Dave P., the Food Services Coordinator, "the place hasn't looked this good in a long time."  Mary C., the executive director stated that, "Little Giants truly stand out in their
commitment to community."
