The Wabash College Theater Department will present its first theater production of the season, Never the Sinner by John Logan, which will run from October 3-6 in Ball Theater in the Fine Arts Center. The performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. each evening.

The play takes place in Chicago, May 21, 1924. Nathan Leopold Jr., age 18, and Robert Loeb, age 19, killed 14-year-old Bobby Franks and were quickly apprehended when Leopold’s glasses were found near the corpse. Clarence Darrow defended them, pleading eloquently against capital punishment. This off-broadway hit explores the complex relationship between Leopold and Loeb with a story set to themes of crime and punishment, the press, the times, humanism, Nietzsche’s philosophy, and the end of the Jazz Age.

The New York Post says, "Great theatre. An excellent and compelling play!"

The cast list includes Wabash students: Spencer Elliott as Leopold; Seth Einterz as Loeb; Dustin Foster as Crowe; Kyle Cassidy as Darrow; Patrick McAlister as reporter one and Dr. Bowman; Eric Selsemeyer as reporter three, Sergeant Gortland, and bailiff; James Morey as reporter four and Dr. White; Assistant Director of the Malcolm X Institute, Amina McIntyre will play reporter two, Germaine, and Dr. Hulbert.

Wabash Professor of Theater Dwight Watson is the director. Scene and lighting designer is James Gross with costumes by Caroline Stine.
