WABASH STUDENT CIRCULATION POLICIES
Wabash Photo ID card
You must present your ID card when checking out materials. The card also has a magnetic strip on the back for adding value in order to use the library photocopy machine. There is no charge to replace a lost or damaged ID card. You may obtain a replacement ID card through Information Technology Services in Baxter Hall room 29. Please call Jamie Ross (x6302) to make an appointment.
Loan Periods Books and government documents may be checked out by students until the end of the semester. Periodicals do not leave the library. Students may check out CDs, DVDs, videos and LPs for one week. Classroom reserves circulate for 2 hours in most cases. Items may be recalled before the due date if needed by someone else. A few classes have 24 or 48 hour reserves.
Group Study Rooms
The library has four group study rooms. Keys are checked out at the Circulation Desk on a first-come, first-served basis for up to four hours. Although classes may reserve a room in advance, individuals may not reserve a room in advance. Some of these study rooms have video viewing capabilities.
Fines for Reserves and Study Room Keys
The Circulation Desk provides access to reserve materials (items set aside by instructors for students to read for their class). Because these reserve materials are high demand items, to ensure fair access for all students in a class those who do not return reserves face stiff fines. The same fines apply to study room keys:
Within the first hour:
1-15 minutes: 25 cents 16-30 minutes: 50 cents 31-45 minutes: 75 cents 46-60 minutes: $1.00 2-5 hours overdue: $2.00 per hour Overhours: automatic $25.00
Unpaid fines are forwarded to the College Business Office each semester and will appear on bills issued by that office. Overdue material has to be RETURNED; it can't be renewed, although it can be checked out again.
Lost/Damage Materials Charges
We do not charge daily fines for general collection materials (books, government documents, and media.) You will receive notices through the campus mail that you need to return overdue material or renew them. If you ignore the first 3 notices, a $5.00 fine is assessed when the fourth overdue notice is sent, and a $55.00 replacement fee is added to your account for each item until the fee is paid or the material is returned. If you damage or lose library materials, you will be asked to pay the repair or replacement cost.
Questions and concerns can be directed to Mrs. Diane Norton, Circulation Supervisor, at 765-361-6330 (nortond@wabash.edu)
