Wabash students will again be engaged in telling stories about Indiana's history and culture through the 2008 Present Indiana Program.
The Lilly Endowment Inc. funded program is in its fourth year.
Students are researching the roots of jazz in Indiana, the state's rich history with NASA astronauts, the booming greenway trail systems, Crispus Attucks historic state basketball championship, and even Jim Davis and Garfield. Each summer students are selected for an 8-week summer internship to study some area of Hoosier history or culture. The students prepare a presentation they can make to various groups during the school year.
The students maintain a blog about some of the experiences you can read here.
Present Indiana will serve audiences that include international students studying in Indiana, elementary and middle school students, personnel directors and small business leaders, newly relocated employees to the area, as well as new faculty and staff at Wabash College.
