International Student Finances

U.S. visa regulations require that admission to the College be based on both academic qualifications and satisfactory evidence of funds to meet all of the expenses that will be incurred during the student’s proposed program of study.  As an international student, you are required to demonstrate your ability to provide for expenses not covered by merit-based scholarships and /or need-based awards.  NO AWARD WILL COVER ALL OF YOUR EXPENSES. You will not be considered for admission if you do not submit documents supporting your ability to provide for expenses.

The following information explains the awards available to international students.  The below listed awards are available to all prospective, but there are adjustments made to the international population.  Please note the differences in application deadlines and scholarship requirements for international students!

Wabash merit-based scholarship policies apply to all students, both domestic and international.

NEED-BASED AWARDS:

Students interested in being considered for need-based awards should complete the Financial Aid application attached to the International Finances Form.  Along with both of the financial forms, students are required to submit original or attested copies of documents that verify and support the information included on both the International Finances Form and the Financial Aid application.  With both financial forms and a complete application file on record, international students will be considered for any need-based awards sponsored by Wabash.

A typical financial aid package may consist of a combination of an offer of campus employment, loans, and a very limited number of grants in addition to any merit-based scholarships that may be awarded.  International students must be aware that an aid award will not cover travel expenses, summer maintenance, and personal expenses.

To be given priority consideration for need-based or merit awards, students must have a complete application file on record by February 1.

2008-2009 Loans

ATTENTION:  Important Loan Change

Due to unforseen changes in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP), Wabash is moving to the Direct Loan Program.  This will effect ALL students.  Notices have been sent to your Wabash email account explaining the reason for this change and detailing new loan instructions.  Please note, the new program is still a Stafford or PLUS loan.  The loans listed in your financial aid award will not change.

IDOC:  Please send all IDOC documentation to the College Board as directed in your request from them.
