"Wabash College educates men to
think critically, act responsibly, lead effectively, and live humanely."

How does the college practice and accomplish its mission statement?

Administration, faculty, and staff seek to create such men through great teaching and advising. Bridging the gap between the legends and new hires, are seasoned veterans who will teach the new teachers the "Wabash way."

"I meet with scholars from around the country about four or five times a year. They complain about their deans, colleagues, and students. I brag about mine. There is a very positive culture at Wabash that is infectious. All of the junior colleagues I know here feel very well supported."

- History professor Rick Warner

"I take students to places we study and keep them there for as long as possible. Imagine trying to learn Spanish in the confines of a Wabash classroom in three 50-minute intervals a week. The only way students really learn our discipline is to be immersed in the ebb and flow of Spanish and Latin American culture. These trips are fundamental to teaching and learning in foreign languages."

- Spanish Professor Dan Rogers On Wabash's unique Immersion Learning programs.

"I hope that I challenge my students to see familiar things from a new angle of vision. Some of the most critical insights that students achieve come out of the application of somewhat dry analytical tools to real-world decisions, whether at the personal level or the policy level.

"One of the most memorable moments I cherish is the first time a graduated senior came back to visit me. I was tremendously proud and flattered that he felt that I had made a difference in his life. I love to hear from alumni and talk to them about what they are doing with their lives, regardless of whether they go on in economics. It keeps me current and helps me maintain a long-run perspective on my job as a teacher."

- Economics professor, Kay Widdows. Wabash provides several unique opportunities for students interested in business including a Summer Business Immersion experience and a program for High school students, Opportunities to Learn About Business.

The National Survey of Student Engagement, based at Indiana University, cites Wabash as setting national benchmarks for student-faculty interactions. In its rankings of the "Best 357 Colleges," The Princeton Review ranks Wabash fifth for "Professors Bring Material to Life;" 10th for "Professors Make Themselves Available;" and 11th for "Best Overall Academic Experience for Undergraduates." The CIRP survey, based at UCLA, reports that more than 97 percent of Wabash seniors would choose Wabash all over again if possible. Such student satisfaction is based in large part on the faculty of the College.
