The Wabash soccer team took time off from their preparation for the 2009 season to spend an afternoon with patients and families at the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent in Indianapolis Thursday afternoon. The 2009 Wabash College football team completed its third day of practice Friday afternoon, their last before going to full pads on Saturday. The Little Giants are the preseason favorite to win their fifth consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference title by the league's coaches. View photos from Friday's practice. 

Over 140 members of the Wabash College football and soccer teams reported to campus Monday to process paperwork, get equipment, and move into their living units in preparation for the start of the fall sports season.

The 12 students in the fly fishing tutorial are going through Freshman Orientation. They will be starting the semester-long classroom portion of their Fly Fishing Tutorial. But the memories are still fresh in all their minds. Retired Professor of Biology Austin Brooks was part of the trip. He writes about interacting with the students.

Two regional associations recently completed their summer golf outings for alumni, family and friends.  The St. Joseph Valley Association (South Bend) and the Evansville Association held succesful events for the 9th and 12th straight years respectively.   

Fly fishing in Montana is one heck of a way to jump start your college career. Political Science Professor Dr. David Hadley is leading 12 members of the Class of 2013 at Bozeman, Montana through a weeklong trip as part of a Freshman Tutorial. The center piece of the unique liberal arts experience is fly fishing.

"American Idol" semifinalist Leslie Hunt, daughter of Steve Hunt ’76 and featured in Wabash Magazine, has released a new CD with the attention-grabbing title, "Your Hair is on Fire."

Jake Martin, a 2003 Wabash College graduate, has been named the interim head baseball coach at DePauw University. Martin takes over for former head coach Matt Walker, who resigned on August 7.

 The Willow Creek Golf Club at Marriott's Oakbrook Resort was again home to the annual Wabash Club of Chicago golf outing.

 Wabash students, faculty, staff, and alumni have frequently suggested to the school’s administration that opening a coffee shop on campus was a good idea. Thanks to a collaborative effort, the much talked about coffee shop will open at the start of the coming school year.

The First Tee of Hammond golf program changes kids' lives, and Barry Tyler ’06 is the program's first executive director and could use your vote to keep First Tee growing. 

The complete schedule for Freshman Orientation at Wabash, which begins with Freshman Saturday on August 22, is now available online.

Wabash Stories, the grassroots story-gathering effort begun earlier this year by a group of Wabash College alumni, has launched a new Web site to make it easier for more Wabash men to share their stories.

Wabash College is the only Indiana institution to be named to the Top 40 of Forbes.com’s Best College and Best Buy College lists for 2009. Only one other Indiana College made the Best Buy Top 100.

The Wabash soccer team is in Argentina for a 10-day tour of the region. Coach Giannini's wife, Marcella, and sophomore Ian Kelly's aunt, Mary, are with the team as chaperones. They share their observations in the soccer team's blog.

Wabash received six first-place votes and 93 total points from the North Coast Athletic Conference football coaches in the league's annual preseason poll. The Little Giants have won four consecutive conference titles heading into the 2009 season.
