Ethanol and Biorenewable Resources Expert to Lecture

Wabash College invites you to hear Ryan West give a talk at 12:10 p.m., Tuesday, February 27, in Hays Hall, room 319. West is in charge of the BioTown USA project in Reynolds, Ind., and will be speaking about the implementation of biorenewable resources in Indiana. The title of West’s talk is “Turning Challenges into Opportunities,” and will cover Indiana’s growing ethanol production.

African American Art on Display at Wabash College

In celebration of Black History Month, the Wabash College Art Department is pleased to present the John and Norma Thompson Collection of African American Art in the Eric Dean Gallery beginning Monday, February 26 and running through April 5. John Thompson will be present for the opening reception from 8-9:30 p.m. on Monday, February 26. The public is encouraged to attend this free event.

Tony Award-Winning "Sideman" Continues Through Saturday

Wabash College associate professor of theater Michael Abbott has long wanted to get his hands on a script from the play Side Man. The 1999 Tony Award-winning production for best play will be performed by the Wabash College Theater in Ball Theater in the Fine Arts Center on campus 8 p.m. each night Wednesday through Saturday.

MXIBS Documentary to Premier Saturday

Alumnus Jo Throckmorton's documentary film on the history of the Malcolm X Institute, "A Legacy of Hope," will premier Saturday, February 17 at 12:30 p.m. in Salter Hall in the Fine Arts Center. Throckmorton, a 1987 graduate, will be in attendance and will lead a discussion of the film after the screening.

Springer ’01 Coaches Wheeler to Regional Berth

Wabash College alumnus Doug Springer started coaching part-time while in law school after graduating in 2001. This weekend he'll bring his Wheeler High School girls basketball team to Montgomery County, where his 19-3 Bearcats will compete against North Montgomery in the Regional semi-finals.

Tim Schirack '07 Wins 133rd Baldwin Oratorical Competition

Five finalists competed i Monday night in the last round of the 133rd Baldwin Oratorical Contest. The oldest continuous public speaking contest west of the Alleghenies, it was created in 1873 by an endowment from longtime trustee Judge Daniel Pratt Baldwin.

Coach Bob Brock to be Honored Saturday

Many members of the basketball teams coached by Bob Brock from 1953 through 1964 will return to campus Saturday, February 17 for a reunion and opportunity for the former players to honor their beloved coach. Coach Brock is the only coach in Wabash basketball history to take four straight teams to the NCAA tournament. For Coach Brock, though, what his players have done off the court is even more rewarding.

IAWM Honors Clay Robbins '79

N. Clay Robbins '79, president of the Lilly Endowment, was honored on Saturday, February 10, 2007 by the Indianapolis Association of Wabash Men (IAWM) as their Man of the Year. The event, held at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott, grew a large crowd, one of the biggest in recent years.
