Dear Alumni, Parents, and Friends of Wabash College:
This was a record year for Wabash College: Record enrollment, record applications for admission and, thanks to you, a record $3.1 million Annual Fund!
Our friend and trustee Tom Hays ’55 challenged us to grow the Annual Fund to $3 million by 2009. Why wait until 2009? You responded in ways beyond our imagination and completed the challenge in one year. Mr. Hays has now generously committed $1 million to our general scholarship fund!
For the fourth consecutive year more Wabash alumni, parents, students, faculty, and friends — over 4,000 of you — invested in our mission to educate men to think critically, act responsibly, lead effectively, and live humanely.
A recent Forbes.com ranking of the nation’s best colleges and universities, based primarily on measures of student satisfaction, is one example of the return on your investment. Wabash College was ranked 12th among all American institutions of higher learning, outranking MIT, University of Chicago, Middlebury, and Stanford, among others.
Wabash students value — and clearly benefit from — their education, the faculty who teach them, and the range of opportunities available to them outside the classroom. All of which is a direct result of your generous gifts.
We must work together to ensure these experiences for our students each and every year. Your gifts to Wabash College in 2007-2008 were historic. Our challenge in 2008-2009 is to once again re-write the College history books and provide our students one of the best educational experiences in the country.
With 11,000 living alumni and thousands of parents, friends, faculty and staff, $3.1 million and 4,000 names listed in this honor roll of donors just scratches the surface. Imagine the possibilities if those numbers were higher.
Please join us again this year in making an investment in our mission and the young men who benefit from it. Please encourage your friends and classmates whose names do not appear on the accompanying lists to stand up and be counted with you.
On behalf of our students, faculty, and staff please accept our thanks and gratitude for your generous financial gifts and commitment of time for our College. You are all Some Little Giants!
Sincerely,
Joseph R. Emmick ’92 Dean for Advancement
