"Giving Back" is a theme often heard while talking to Wabash alumni. They are actively improving their communities as volunteers and social leaders. That spirit of giving back often begins while at Wabash. Community involvement is a key element of living a humane life. In fact, it is so important to Wabash that the College maintains an online directory of community service opportunities.

It begins early...
Within the first week of arriving on campus, freshmen spend an afternoon engaged in community service projects ranging from painting, landscaping, and cleaning to assisting social service agencies.

A community effort
2002 marked the First Annual Community Service Day on campus, with more than 110 students participating in community activities. As with most campus functions, living units competed for the highest participation...making the event all the more worthwhile.

Students can also join a service-oriented campus organization, Alpha Phi Omega, which sponsors campus-wide volunteer programs. In 2002, two members of APO received the President's Student Service award for amassing more than 100 hours of community service in a year. All together, Wabash men logged over 5,000 hours of community service and donated well over $10,000 for local agencies.
