Best Classroom Experience - My best classroom experience did not occur in a classroom; at least not in a traditional classroom. I participated in Photo 124 which takes a 3-week trip through the Southwest. Basically 14 guys pile into two vans travel out west, set up camp nightly under the stars, take pictures, and along the way just so happen to have the best time of their lives. This experience helped me to develop not only as a photographer and artist, it also changed me as a person. I was opened up to an incredible group of guys, some of whom I now count as close friends. Choosing his major - Art has always been my passion; choosing it as a major was an easy decision. I contemplated attending an Art Institute, but decided my interests and strengths were far too broad to limit myself to just Art. It is encouraging to know that the background provided by my liberal arts education will provide me with a lot of options outside of simply becoming an artist The Art Department faculty - Is intimate, which creates incredible dialogue and relationships between student and professor. You work hands on with the professors and are constantly throwing ideas back and forth. In the studio, Professor Calisch and Huebner do a great job of directing your progress while allowing you to decide the direction you want to take your art. I have respect for the work the Faculty has done and the knowledge they have, yet I feel that I can speak with them on the same level and even challenge them when necessary.
