More than two dozen works were selected from the 80,000 paintings, photographs, prints and other cultural artifacts owned by the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction in Bloomington, Indiana. Alfred Kinsey began the collection as part of his study of sexual behavior and sold it to the Institute for Sex Research (later renamed The Kinsey Institute) when it was incorporated in 1947. Since then, the collection has grown through generous donations by individuals—including artists, collectors, and interview subjects—and other institutions. It is a unique resource that is used today by scholars and other researchers from around the world. Prior to the show’s opening, Catherine Johnson-Roehr, Curator of Art at the Kinsey, will present "Art, Sex, and Science: A Look at the Research Collections of Alfred Kinsey" in Korb Classroom. Her lecture begins at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a reception at the Eric Dean Gallery from 8-9:30 p.m. The exhibit will remain open through Saturday, April 2, except during Spring Break (March 3-13). Special gallery hours for this exhibit are Tuesday through Saturday, 12 noon to 4 p.m. For more information see:
